Welcome to Troop 815
Troop815 has been serving the youth of Edgewater Maryland, since 1976. Sponsored by London Towne Property Owners Association, we offer a fantastic Scouting program to Youth aged 11 to 18. Our purpose is to develop people of solid moral character, informed and active citizens.
Interested in our Troop? Then please feel free to stop by at any Wednesday Troop meeting, or contact us at bsatroop815md@gmail.com
Meeting
Troop 815 meets every Wednesday from 6:30pm to 8pm year-round. On occasion, meetings are held off-site and notice of these are given in advance.
Additionally, we provide a camping weekend every month for our scouts and attend a one-week summer camp every year. We try to have at least one High-Adventure activity per year for the older scouts.
Patrol Leaders Council Meeting
Meets the first Wednesday of the month from 6-6:30pm.
The patrol leaders’ council plans the yearly troop program at the annual planning conference. It then meets monthly to fine-tune the plans for the upcoming month.
The PLC is made up of the senior patrol leader, who presides over the meetings, the assistant senior patrol leader, all patrol leaders, and the troop guide. The troop scribe also attends to take notes and keep the minutes.
Patrol Method
Our scouts are organized into patrols which function as independent units within the troop. Each patrol is comprised of 6-10 scouts, and they vote every year for their patrol leader and assistant patrol leader.
New scouts are mixed into our existing patrols, so they have older scouts to look up to for mentorship. Currently, we have 2 patrols in our troop. Each patrol has a Troop guide, which is a older scout that will help guide them.
